English professor says super casinos are good for gamblers

Professor Peter Collins is a gambling expert from Manchester and the Director of Salford University’s Center for the Study of Gambling. For more than 20 years he has studied casinos from all around the world and has come to the conclusion that super casinos create fewer problem gamblers.

He recently presented a report to the Parliamentary Seminar on Gambling showing that anti-gambling advertisements and super casinos worked to decrease the average amount spent on bets by gamblers.

“There is evidence from around the world suggesting that building a super casino and investing in public education actually reduces the number of problem gamblers” Professor Collins said.

"This is not a hard science, only what the evidence suggests," he added.
