The houses of 46 employees of Casino Aztar in Missouri were damaged by the April 2nd tornado. Fifteen of them lost everything.
The casino didn’t suffer damages but it felt the consequences of the storm through its employees and decided to help them out.
David Ledford has worked for Aztar as an engineer for about 10 years. His house was destroyed. He says he’s thankful because the casino got a team together of 10 people or so and helped him and his family. “They were not only helping me. They were going all over town” he adds.
Lisa McMahan, Casino Aztar’s Marketing Manager, said that they were able to set up a fund for their employees to allow them to get cash and area housing. She estimates that the Casino has contributed about $50,000 to tornado relief in Caruthersville.
