New interactive table for casinos
Microsoft Corp. and casino operator Harrah’s Entertainment Inc. presented this week an interactive table that allows clients to create and order drinks, watch YouTube videos, play videogames and even flirt with other customers. The table represents an important tool for Harrah’s to track punters’ habits and conducts.

"This is new in about every definition of new you can think of," Harrah's Chief Innovation Officer Tim Stanley commented about the table. “The range of opportunities is almost unlimited.” A Microsoft spokesperson further explained that the units were sold at a basic price of 10,000 dollars each.

The six rectangular tables with 30-inch flat screens that use Microsoft’s Surface technology were installed in one of Harrah’s casino resorts and include customized applications specifically designed for Harrah’s. A program called Mixoligists allows clients to create drinks and order the mixes they chose. The system is capable of remembering the orders and one day it could offer the client his drinks of choice in other Harrah’s casinos.

Other programs allow customers to watch YouTube videos, both by performing searches or choosing from a list of popular videos. The table also includes an application called Flirt, which lets clients sitting in any of the tables see and chat with other clients, take and send photos via email and interchange phone numbers.

Other utilities include videogames and the possibility of gathering information about restaurants, shows and other attractions provided by Harrah’s.
